Application development is a term given to creating a computer program. It is about the process of developing software, the life cycle of that software, and the plans that have been laid out for the development of that software.
Application development is a technical process that takes place when a computer software program is being developed. During the process of application development, a series of different programs that all perform a task could be created, or just one single computer program. These programs could serve many different functions, from assisting business processes, or keeping track of accounts and inventories, or just creating a program that makes an application more effective.
There are other types of programming that are similar to application development, but few involve the same high levels of responsibility that application development entails. The industry has seen lots of major changes that have taken place over a relatively short amount of time in the last few years. In these recent years, more and more customers have been looking for various types of software solutions, and along with this, the resources available for application development has grown substantially, leading to a massive increase in the application development industry.
The last few years has seen many additional platform choices become part of the industry, along with new architectures, and along with these additions, the expectations of consumers has also risen. Application development is therefore in a higher demand, as consumers want a higher quality of program with a higher functionality in today’s superior standards of computer technology.
In the global marketplace of the twenty first century, an application developer needs to prove far beyond his ability to program, as application development grows further and further each day. A development needs to have an ability to collaborate and integrate with other components and software, as well as having a familiarity with all issues that may arise during the application development process.
There are other forms of application development, such as Joint Application Development, which is the practice of bringing users into the development process and using their contributions and opinions. Another form is Rapid Application Development, which is a method developed in the early 1990s. Also known in shortened form as RAD, it is a method of developing that makes a ‘skeleton’ version of the program available much sooner because the full application is available, allowing developers to continue adding and perfecting the application.
